Very expensive records (lol)

Post by Sidewinder »

Maybe these go with that phonograph with the Shroud on the left door. 43 records for 43'000$

http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-43-Victor-Co ... 286.c0.m14

I hope its a typo & the seller corrects it!

I suspect the seller intends the price- a thousand dollars a record. Too bad, there are a few good ones in the lot.

Actually, I wouldn't mind having a few of those records, but not at 1K a pop.

What a stupid seller. The majority of these records can be gotten on Ebay for a few bucks apiece.

Folks,

As you've said-there's a few real gems in the bunch, when they don't sell at that price I certainly hope the owner doesn't toss them!

John

I have a limited knowledge in the valuation of cylinders and NO understanding of the worth of individual records. My question is,are ANY of the recordings listed worth $1000.00 per unit? Michael

I own about 15 of those records, probably paid 50 cents to a dollar for each.

In reply to BostonMike's ques- Kurt Nauck occasionally lists records with opening bids of $1000 or more. I have one of his catalogs from 2006 that contained a bunch of rare Victor Picture records. Highest minimum bid on those was $3000. Of course, I'm not sure if he got those bids..

Oh yea, I didn't look at the list on Ebay to see if any of those are that rare. I prefer to buy a whole box for $20 at the local auction and sort out the ones to keep and the ones to take back and sell, sometimes at the same auction, at a later date..

To expand on the recent "nerve" thread, this seller has a very reasonable shipping rate of $120. That leaves $42,875 as fair compensation for all of the pictures he placed in the add.
