Exhibition Soundbox

Post by Lenoirstreetguy »

I've been mucking with my Exhibition soundboxes lately...doing the new gasket routine, and this made me curious about the serial numbers on them. Do any of you wise folks know of any listing that gives the serial number correlated to the year of manufacture? I just had kind of an epiphany because the one of mine I thought was the oldest...it's the one that came with my quite early Victor III ....is I think the newest of the three. It's also the one that sounds the best, but the one I think is the oldest is a close second in terms of sound. I have the tone arm and I think it's off a VTLA. Would that I had the whole thing! :P

By email I asked this very question of Paul Edie a few months ago. His reply, which I take to be definitive, is that whatever records of these Exhibition sound box numbers there once were, they no longer exist.
