GoFundMe for Paul Morris Shop Fire

Post by EdisonWizard »

Hello everyone,

Some of you know I've been trying to put together a gofundme for Paul Morris' shop fire. User Valecnik got me in touch with Paul, and I have everything finally set up for use in the U.K., all in his name. I let him know if he has trouble managing it or updating the page to let me know and I'll reach out to people or update the page for him. This is my first time doing this...so hopefully this works well. Please let me know here if there are any issues with it. I included a short story and picture as well to get him started, if someone feels it needs to be changed let me know and I'll look into it. I gave Paul everything so he'll be in control of the account.

Link for the page is here: https://www.gofundme.com/7nn7gq-paul-mo ... p-fire-tmf

If y'all could spread this around your Facebook pages and other phono forums and the like...see if we can get him some donations!

Let me know if there are any issues. Paul has communicated with me via email that he is overcome with gratitude and without words that there are people willing to donate to help him, as he's always been an independent fellow. He is proud of the work he has been able to put into the community for the last 40 years, and hope to continue.

Mods could we sticky this for a while?
J.F.

I've also gone to the page and made a small contribution. With Paul's permission I've posted here a picture of how Paul's shop looks today. Needless to say he's starting from scratch.

It may be that since this is an overseas transaction, that it is triggering an automatic fraud alert with your credit card company. When I donated, my card was initially denied. I almost immediately got a phone call from my credit card company asking me to confirm that I was trying to make this overseas transaction. Once I confirmed that I was trying to make this transaction, I retried and the transaction went through with no problems.

Yea I think it's your card reacting to an overseas transaction. I've had it happen multiple times and had to call the credit card company to get it unblocked. I contributed awhile ago and this time it worked fine.

It's going great guys, keep sharing on your social media sites etc. in 20 hours we raised £444. Paul emailed me this morning saying it was incredible. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

You're probably correct. I found to my dismay that my card was refused the next day: I checked my email, and I found an alert from my bank.

I've now checked the website, and confirmed my status: my subsequent donation went through with flying colors.

Glad to hear yours went through Bill. The GoFundMe has already raised £654! That should help a bit!
