Standard AA Serial Number Location

Post by HisMastersVoice »

Can anyone tell me where (if there even is one) the serial number on a Standard AA is located?

I have the Standard AA and Columbia AU. I was wondering about the serial number myself.

Here is my Standard AA open works and the serial number is located at the bottom of the frame directly under the crank.

I will have to check that spot. I looked at the thing for 20 minutes, I can't imagine I missed something so obvious. Maybe someone switched the plates around or something and the serial is on the inner one now?

Stay tuned...

I haven't owned a Standard AA for 25 years, but I seem to remember the serial number of mine being stamped on the upper edge of one of the motor plates - in late Q fashion. On the other hand, I may be crazy...

I've been meaning to tear this machine down and polish everything for a while. I would imagine that somewhere on one of the greasy motor plates is a serial number coated in crud.

On my AA, the serial number is stamped on the front edge of the center plate adjacent to the spring. A little mangled, but reads 217841. Interesting that locations vary.
