I'm keeping it flat for the first version. It seems to seal just fine on the 3D printed model.
To the group: how many of these should I make? The more.... the lower the cost. Was thinking to make 50 of them to start. Which will be a significant initial investment. I think any collector should own ONE. Or, I could offer it as part of a complete rebuild and adjustment. Thoughts?

Stay tuned for more "nuisance." Love it! I've often wondered about EJ's voice, and this confirms my suspicions. Now, I can't wait to hear FFJ in all of her true glory!MicaMonster wrote:And does it sound good? Oh myyy......it made a Victor Red Seal of Edward Johnson not just tolerable, but enjoyable! I think the idea to offer it as part of a complete rebuild and adjustment is great. Count me in definitely! For one or two! I´ve been tinkering with a couple of Exhibitions for years and still feel more can be done. I admire your work and sense of humour too! Best of luck with this fascinating project!!

"Nuisance". When I typed it in... it was "nuance." That was totally a gift from auto-correct. I call it "poodle ex machina."Henry wrote:Stay tuned for more "nuisance." Love it! Here is rubber prototype #1! This will be passed around and tested extensively.

After testing I will make this available as a stand alone part or part of a complete "renovation" with the needle bar mods

Great Stuff.
Also, if you would be able to do this with No. 4 and No. 5a/b gaskets in a somehow affordable fashion, you would make a pretty penny, I think.

Yes, there is a huge improvement, I found the wire in a hobby shop used for stringing a piano.
The first bunch of wire I bought was way too thick, I ended up buying something that looked kind of thin, but was about right, it was about the thickness of a narrow darning needle, or a thick sewing needle.
I didn't have to worry about centering the needle bar to the mica diaphragm either.
I also used some very heavy grease that is meant to press bushings together in the fulcrum grooves in the needle bar.
I figured it would help to dampen and lubricate them.

I brought up the subject of glass for Victrola reproducers last October and found this supplier who makes Gorilla Glass wafers custom, https://valleydesign.com/gorilla-glass-wafers.html.
