I wonder why your pictures won't enlarge? That's a bit annoying

Bruce, you're not trying to find matching serial numbers again, are you?

The HMV 103 was only fitted with a cheap single spring motor so I wonder if your machine, Bruce, also had that one fitted to it? They are somewhat notorious for barely getting through one side of a record. The HMV 109 had the Victor 2-spring type - No. 32. and no such problems. The same motor / model matching continued through to the later No. 5 soundbox models, the 104 (cheap single spring motor) and 130 (No. 32 double-spring)

Bruce, I've added a picture of the motor so you (and everyone else) knows which motor the HMV no.32 is. The 4 spring version of this motor was the No.34.
I dont think Victor gave model no's to their motors??
This motor will easily play two 10" sides, or two 12" sides on a good day
I also worked out what I'd done wrong before, so now the pictures can be clicked on & enlarged.

Nice machine, Shane! I've always preferred the HMV machines over the Victors for some reason.

I've been on lookout for an HMV upright for a long time, but they are hard to find up here. Seen a few, but typically, they are to far away.
