Thursday evening, while I was helping my father, take some more items, too our booth, at Old Glory Antiques. I picked up another batch of 78's for free, from the owner. One of the records is an early, Cab Calloway, on Perfect.

The Levee Low Down-A
Blues in My Heart-B

I'm guessing this if from the 1920's? It's an electric recording too.

It's generally easier to help with inquiries such as yours if they include record numbers. But, having nothing better to do in the midst of "The Blizzard of the Century" (ha!) this fine morning, I looked them up for you. Perfect 15490, rec. May 6, 1931.

Thank You Henry. I should remember that site. The record was 1931. I should have figured, since it says Electric, above Perfect.

I have one as well, 15770, originally released as Brunswick 6141: 'Six or seven times' (E.36803-A) b/w 'Black rhythm' (E.36804-A), both recorded circa May 1931.

"Six or Seven Times" was a "reply song" to "Four or Five Times" (q.v.). Both have not so veiled double entendre lyrics.

My favorite, however, is Andy Kirk's response to these: "Once or Twice". I believe that was his first or second Brunswick record.

Here it is (sorry, in the wrong section, but I'll err just this once, for sake of context):

Once or Twice

Cab Colloway made some good hot tunes during the early 1930s. I picked this one up in an antique mall last week. Again good hot tune:

# 2094 CAB CALLOWAY & HIS ORCHESTRA SWEET JENNIE LEE, recorded 10/14/30
