Is This A Kameraphone?

Post by cweastlick »

I picked this up the other day. It looks like a Kameraphone but I can't find any other models like it. It's missing some parts too. If you can help me identify it or have any parts that will fit it, please let me know.

The Kameraphone brand has two side clips.
I have an unbranded one the matches a Kameraphone.

This image is very similar to yours.

This link calls it a Pet-O-Phone.

I searched Pet-O-Phone and came up with a very different style.

It's not be a Pet-O-Phone. ;)
More reliable information in my new reply below.

My Kameraphone has a name plate on the outside. See photos. I also have a Cameraphone brand machine (last 2 photos). But any box camera looking phono was typically called a cameraphone.

I had a Kameraphone branded machine which was significantly different than those shown here. It had a cast iron turntable which was covered in green felt instead of the folding record support. It also had a tone arm which was basically a copy of a pre-Orthophonic Victor arm. The arm slipped into a socket mounted on the inside of the lid and acted as the horn. The reproducer was a copy (actually a total ripoff) of the Victor Exhibition and was named "Expedition". IIRC, the nameplate was was a decal on mine.
Do a Google search for Kameraphone and look in images where you will see many different types of them.

Yes, I have the same as you, without it being branded. You can see a small image in the link I supplied above.
You'll note that that image shows it with the wrong reproducer.

These little players are so cool. Not very practical to play often though.

Most of them have atrocious tracking errors. I consider them "record grinders."
