Diamond Disc Lathes and Cutting Heads Video

Post by donniej »

Friends,
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to examine the remaining DD cutting heqds and some of the lathes at the Edison Historical Park and made a video of my findings. I hope it will encourage sharing of information and debate about a little known topic.

Thank you.

Thanks for sharing this, Don! I agree with one of the youtube posters that it would be great to see one or more articles on this subject in the APS magazine.

As for the lathe with the DD reproducer chuck and the 4 screened holes behind it... Is the tube with the holes laterally adjustable? If so, it would suggest a crude attenuation device (dance band = small hole; violin solo = larger hole...). Interesting stuff.

Thanks again!
