A friend of mine recently won this machine in an auction from the U.K. It has an after market attachment to convert the Edison Standard into
a back mount machine. thought i would share a few pictures.
Sorry about the skewed pictures. I checked them to see if they were uploaded correctly and they were. However when I hit submit the Forum program rotates them??

Nice find. The decal really adds to it. The cabinet beneath it and neighboring machines look great too.

Re: Interesting Auction Find!
Good heavens! First a third example of the Devineau Biophone attachment surfaces and then this rare Phon-Arm? Maybe I need to go shopping and dress up my Fireside a little bit.
No seriously, that's an extremely rare part for an Edison Standard, and it looks like you found one in great shape. Wish I had some weird stuff to trade around for one!
By the way, either that is an Edison Recorder in the carriage, or his reproducer is missing the tailweight.

Re: Interesting Auction Find!
Am I right to assume this attachment was made in U.S.A.?
The reason I ask is because I have an Edison Home with a similar attachment of a different design which is apparently of German manufacture.

Yes Shane these were made (or at least sold) out of Chicago for a very short time.gramophoneshane wrote:Am I right to assume this attachment was made in U.S.A.?

Thanks Wayne.
I thought it was but couldn't find the previous threads using the search function for some reason, so was unsure.
