I never really explained but I got rid of that strange brass carriage, it seemed to have different threads and I think I agreed with Rene that it was likely a reproduction, it was replaced by an almost complete (aside from second clip) carriage so its back to Pretty much all original now.

I decided to treat the poor old thing and today the postman just arrived today and brought an original 1890's all brass witches hat horn for the home (thanks Doug), it has really completed the whole machine.

I’ve not rebuilt the reproducer yet but it could benefit from it, it sounds pretty harsh and blasty, but it looks the part now, a bit different from how I first got it!

This is a case where just the right amount of age patina adds greatly to the eye appeal of the machine. Whatever the case, this is certainly a beautiful and impressive early survivor brought back from the brink. The horn looks perfect with that machine. Congratulations!
