I will be picking up this machine early this week. After some negotiations I am down to $60 for it and the records that come with it.
A few questions though
1. Is this an uncommon machine? I did a search on the forum and saw a few posts about it.
2. from other pictures I have seen this one doesn't seem to have the raised middle?
3. should I do anything the paper record holders?
Ill be rebuilding the reproducer when I get it, and the missing speaker slat is coming with the machine.
Thoughts?

Make sure the tonearm moves freely in all directions. The tonearms and elbows in these Columbia machines are usually pot metal and they swell up over the years. It can be fixed, but depending onhow bad the swelling is, it may be a chore.

The lady said it works well but doesn’t sound very good. (Reproducer needs work)

No such thing. You have a couple great shed projects, and then you're saving what is apparently some rare & early model. Nice work.dzavracky wrote:I have too many Columbia machines
As for the lady saying it sounds bad--most of them do at this point; at least you already do your own soundboxes. Keep us posted--looks good!

I don't think that there are many who would pass it up for a paltry $60. My advise for the paper record holders is to preserve them separately. The paper will only fall apart if you use it. I keep every item I found with my machines, because I think it's cool.

I doubt that the LP on the turntable sounds very good. Plus it has a 45 RPM adapter. Nice!dzavracky wrote:The lady said it works well but doesn’t sound very good.
