Really cool article with Billy Murray, Walter Van Brunt, Will Oakland, Irving Kaufman, and John Bieling.

November 23, 1947.

And whoever Quentin Riggs is, thank you for getting them together when they were still around.

I am 46 years old, my how time passes, I used to be a young collector starting in 1987 at the age of 13. By 1993, I owned a few machines, and began repairing machines in the Northwest Indiana and Chicago area. I look back at some of the New Amberola Graphics and see my old ads, which really makes me think. About a 15 years ago, a local radio station interviewed me on my collection and the hobby.

Now 27 years later and over 1,000 restorations later, I have wound down my parts bin. My collection now consists of 13 machines. I have had great times with some of the old collectors and repair shop owners. Many great conversations with Floyd Silver, Dwayne Wyatt, Dennis and Patti Valenti to name a few. The hobby has changed no doubt, machines come, machines go, records come, records go......but it’s a hobby that can last a lifetime.

I would love to see it, back in the early 1990’s I did a local public access TV special showing records playing. I am not sure how many people watched it, but that was before You Tube. I will have to dig out the old ¾” videotape.

L.A. collector: May 21, 1950. This seems to be a case of someone mistaking a early patent date For a manufacture date. But for the lack of history material in 1950, I don’t blame them.
