Just a comment to the comments about inaccuracies to put it in perspective.
To those of us who have photographic memories in the crypto-arcana of the talking machine industry, the errors are exceedingly frustrating. Although if we read an article about left handed nose flutes, we might not know that the inventor’s name was Ezekiel Patchweed, not Hezikiah. Or that his vernacular oscillator was released in 1903 instead of 1861.
Feature columnists have to fill an article everyday on deadline. They might have to write about something they know little or nothing about. If their mind zones off when they should have been taking notes, there may be gaps when they have to type it up. ‘What was that guy’s name again ? Thomas Berliner ? Yeah that sounds about right ‘ ! And off it goes to get filed. It’s only us that know to find out the difference. Sad as it is, I think that’s what happens

And granted, many of these articles were written before the mid-late 1990s So they didn’t have information available to them as we do now, so I can’t be too harsh with my criticism and I apologize if I seem so.tim w wrote:Just a comment to the comments about inaccuracies to put it in perspective.

No apologies necessary. I used to get just as annoyed reading mistakes until I realized ‘well, at least I knew better’
