Unrivaled Edison Display-Can Anyone Beat or Match it?

Post by phonolamplighter »

A little eye candy for all the Edison fans on the Forum!

This picture is from the Talking Machine World, December, 1914. A temptation to buyers for sure.

The sign reads in part:
This is the largest and most comprehensive display of Phonographs ever made by any dealer on the Pacific Coast.

Hope you enjoy the time travel, courtesy of archive.org

Oh, my ears and whiskers! I particularly like that phalanx of A-150s across the high platform at the rear.

Thank you for posting that!

The photo illustrates how quickly the external horn machines disappeared from the American market. Not one in sight. They survived much longer in the UK and Europe.

Wouldn’t it be fascinating to know the story of those machines, especially the high end ones. Where they went and where are they now.

*wipes drool off keyboard*

I would've be so fun to have lived in a time when you could go into a store like that and see all the machines in perfect condition. And on top of it... listen to brand new records!!
