I wouldn't be at all surprised if that in person it actually sounds better than an Edison.
It sounds fantastic.
What size horn does your EMG have?

That is an Oversize---bell mouth diameter 33 ½". The smaller horns also sound just as good as DDs have little bass to worry about. One interesting discovery about that video is that the horn looks black as a result of using a very bright floodlight. It is in fact very light grey---see avatar !

Thank you all for the information received so far. I am especially encouraged by Don Wilson's demonstration that an even an ordinary sound-box (obviously with the orientation corrected via a right-angled joint) can give a good result provided the stylus is correct. It seems that my first objective, before embarking on further expense, would be to find an Edison-type stylus which could be substituted for the Pathé round-headed sapphire which I have.

Oliver Mundy.
