I was watching this School Machine on eBAY. I think it got up to ~$5k or so before someone probably made the seller an offer he could not refuse. Did anyone here get it? If so congrats! It's a very rare machine. Wish I had the $$$.

PS:
Note the interesting horn configuration on this one. Anyway that can be fixed.

I was watching that one too. It was only a 5 day listing and still had about a day or so to go. It had consistently raised $1000 a day and then all of the sudden was ended tonight. I hope someone from the board got it. I'd love to see some more pictures.

These are nice machines. The Oliphants had one at the 2008 Union show, but I don't know what they were asking for it. It had a stand and repro cardboard boxes for the cylinders.
I also know of one in Texas that was restored/rebuilt from a pile of rusted bits.

thank you for posting the photo to the forum... that's definitely an image of a rare machine that should be preserved (beyond the limited shelf life of the link to the ebay listing).

Oliphants' was $16K, heavily but nicely restored, with repro stand and boxes -- from Dave Heitz's collection.AZ* wrote:These are nice machines. The Oliphants had one at the 2008 Union show, but I don't know what they were asking for it. It had a stand and repro cardboard boxes for the cylinders.

Stanton Auctions had one last November that sold for $16 -17K IIRC. It was complete and original except for record boxes.
