Project Reproducer That I Bought From Jerry B.

Post by JerryVan »

Jerry made me promise to post photos of the reproducer I bought from him after I repaired it. It's not totally done yet, but the part of it that made it a "project" is done.

The big hole that went all the way through was threaded. I epoxied a screw into the threaded hole. Would have soldered it, but didn't want to risk un-soldering everything else in the process. I trimmed both ends and filed them flush with the needle chuck. I then re-drilled the needle hole and then drilled & tapped the thumbscrew hole. Not shown here, but it's now painted flat black and the repair does not show.

Thanks guys!

My shop is only partially moved from my old house. I feel a bit helpless without all my tools and machinery in one place. I don't go much to the old house since I'm renting it to my godson. With this damned virus going around, I don't feel great about going back there much. Anyway, the point is, it felt great to be able to accomplish something! Thanks for a project that fit my current resources Jerry!

Okay! Got it all done. The nickel plated front ring and diaphragm are from a donor Exhibition. There was zero nickel left on the front ring. The back plate was cleaned and treated with brass darkening solution. The lettering was touched up with a white crayon. I didn't have an early type thumbscrew or rubber isolator screws so later ones are used. All-in-all, I'm pleased with the result and it sounds very nice as well.
