Anybody Know What These Tabs Are For?

I can't figure out the purpose of these two tabs or whatever you want to call them. I know some tone arms have a way to keep the tone arm in the up position, but this one does not seem to do that.

Never mind. It is indeed a support, but it was assembled wrong.
