Re: Edison Opera database
It made £3200 plus Buyer's premium, only just exceeding the lower estimate of £3000/£5000.
I would have bid, but I considered the "Terms and Conditions" to be almost wilfully onerous.

4645 (Concert) Mahogany. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=49961&start=10
This being a very late example I quote a strange statement from the Frow "Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion" :
"From a report by a British Concert owner who has a very late machine of 1914 (No.4604) it seems the last models had a lid sufficiently deep to cover the horn support without a hole being needed in it....."
On my even later machine the horn support protrudes through the hole in the lid in the normal manner.
Without a hole in the lid, where would the owner put the horn when the lid was on?
