Rare Phonographs On Display At Edison Winter Home

Post by New Sterling »

Here are some of the rare phonographs on display at The Edison Winter Home Museum in Fort Myers, Florida. Of note is an Amberola in it's original packing crate; also what the staff described as a hand-painted copy of "The Phonograph" executed by the original artist.

Thanks for the photos. It's been some time since I visited but every phono nerd should make the trek.

Really cool. I wish I could go to Florida or NJ for the Edison Museums or even Delaware for the ERJ museum.

Wow!

Is the Stereophone based on a Graphophone B Eagle?

The Edison below it - looks like a "loudspealing" prototype? Never seen one like this.

Thanks in advance for some education.

We visited 20 years ago and enjoyed it, touring Edison and Fords summer homes were also interesting, if your close it is worth the visit.

The last picture is of a World War One era Edison Army phonograph.

Thank you for the nice photos. The crated Phonograph is a Chippendale, but it's not possible for me to determine whether it's a C 250 or C 19. Unfortunately there's an issue with the horn pivot, suggesting the operating lever and assembly might be missing or damaged? It's certainly the most complete crated Chippendale I've ever seen, very nice!

Best,

What is the ERJ museum in Delaware? I’ve never heard of it.

Sidewinder, that's not a loud-speaking prototype. It's an Edison Kinetophone.

Technically, the Kinetophone is a loud-speaking phonograph, as it has the Higham friction reproducer... :geek:
