Bruce,

Thank you for that info!!

I think I will clean and wax the green one, and repaint the red one. What wax do you use?

I just got done cleaning the horn with the flowers. I really didn’t think this one would clean up as nice as it did. Also attached is a picture of a big and small horn next to each other for a size comparison.

Realistically I won’t be doing anymore than just cleaning these horns for a while. I’ll re-paint the red horn over the summer.

More updates to follow!

David

I’ve tried 4 times to get the pictures to face the right way and I can’t figure it out  Sorry I can’t get them right!

The horns look to be in good condition metal wise. Just choose paint colors appropriate to that era. And not every rib on every horn needs to be tiger/zebra striped. Most searchlight horns I've owned or seen don't have much if any rib striping.

David

I use Renaissance Wax on the metal parts of the horns and phonographs. It can be found on Ebay (usually out of England)
Otherwise an unscented furniture wax should work fine.

Here’s a video comparison of a small and large horn.

Bruce, I love the red and black one. It's as nice a Searchlight horn as I've ever seen. It's the first I've seen that demonstrates the flower pedal effect in the paint.

I am almost done re-painting one of the horns. All that’s left is to touch up some of the gold paint and a clear coat.

Don't worry about the orientation of the pictures. If you click on them, they show in the correct orientation.
