Edison Standard for restoration :(

Post by jamiegramo »

My sister was clearing a clients very damp garden shed this afternoon and just brought this round. What do you think? A quick wipe with a little polish? Anyway like something raised from the Titanic I thought I ought to photograph it quick before it disintegrates... the wood is like wet sponge!

Seriously, take the motor and upper works, soak them in a reverse electrolysis bath for a few hours and see what happens...

Funny you should say that because in the adjacent garage there was this 1951 Humber. In much better condition than the phonograph but not, I am told, a particularly desirable motor car.

Thanks curt. That’s a really useful video. The motor inside actually looks quite good like the nickel.
