VV-VI Tonearm length

Post by Hux160 »

Hi,
I have a question about the length of the Tonearm on a VV-VI. This machine was in pieces when I got it at a Wayne show a few years ago, so I'm not sure if the arm is original to it or not. When playing, there seems to be a lot of record wear that I don't get if I use the same reproducer on my VV-X. The reproducer was rebuilt with new gaskets and new isolator (the old one was made out of wood!). The needle lands in front of the spindle as shown.

the Tonearm measures 7 inches from pivot to end

Is this arm the correct length? I was thinking of putting a gasket between the cabinet and the back bracket to bring the needle back closer to the spindle and hopefully cut down on wear. Thanks for any suggestions.

I added gaskets to the back bracket to move the needle closer to the spindle. Now it plays without any black dust on the needle and its reversible if need be,
