Alba Gramophone End Table

Post by phonographist »

Just curious if anyone has seen a phonograph like this. It is an end table style. Any info would be appreciated thanks.

No, but I've seen several similarly built Tyrela machines. The forms are very attractive.

Both Alba & Academy copied the Tyrela design.

Ah, interesting Shane, thanks! I have a nice little Tyrela in my hallway. Makes for a nice side table, I keep old framed photos on it. Don't remember the last time I actually played the machine, but it has a great Garrard motor in it!

Thanks for the replies. There is one near me for sale for $175 dollars I'm thinking of picking up. Is it worth it, I have no idea what something like this goes for.

I'd say it's an excellent buy for the price- decorative pieces like that are quite desirable. Alba machines use Swiss components but they have a reputation for being well built.
