On a more serious note, I recently had the same situation happen with my first IX phonograph... I had this misguided notion it would fit on a corner table -- wrong! I had to put it on an endtable in my living room where the legs just kiss the edges, and then relocate the lamp and other items that were formerly housed there to a new location. Just a bunch of bait and switch.
I fear this is only the tip of the phonograph collecting iceburg...
