The dream of every collector is to find an unmolested beauty that was well taken care of for so long. Congratulations.

It does look more like gold paint than plating. Mine is s/n 1452.

The seller is adertising his Credenza as having a brass reproducer and looks as though he's a collector. Good chance he swapped pot metal for brass if it wasn't original already.

The Credenza on Facebook is probably the one that I listed this evening, (1in 1out). It is a 1925 machine, and they came with Brass reproducers. The later Credenzas had pot metal.

Mine is S.N.4676. Spring motor. All of the hardware is typical Victor gold plated, not painted. The outer finish is gloss, interior is matte. Also, the turntable cover is green leatherette, not felt.

Here are some pictures of my VV 8-9. The Serial Number is 1118. I purchased it from the original family 20 years ago.
The brake assembly looks to be gold plated but I am not sure I didn't replace it with a better looking one over the last 20 years.
Is it possible someone replaced the arm with a better looking one on SN 4676. I would be very surprised that one of the last ones left with gold hardware. The VV 8-12 was switched from gold to bronze during mid production. However it started in 1927. If the back bracket was replaced the arm might has well be replaced. Many of the later potmetal back brackets and reproducers from 1928 survived a lot better. My back bracket looks very original. Is the back bracket on SN 4676 old or new?

My 8-9 is in temporary storage in a spare bedroom due to some rearranging, etc. I'm doing. It's kinda tough to get to right now, but I was able to get a few pics.

I’ve got an 8-9 as well. I love the look and it sounds incredible. I just had Wyatt rebuild my reproducer and it really cooks. It is true, the sound as absolutely amazing. I overpaid for mine and have zero regrets. I think mine has a serial number in the high 4000s. Can post pics if useful!
