Half the fun of collecting early turn of the century disc phonographs is collecting the ephemera to display along with them. Here is my collection of “early” needle boxes.

I found pictures of this one on the internet.
It appears to be based on the same box as the French Zonophone one.
Really neat!

Bob,
I love these boxes too!! They make awesome display items with early machines. A couple of these have the Nipper logo branded on the back!!

Bob-
I have three variations of the black lacquered needle boxes. I've seen the Zonophone French version several times. But the other two I have appear to be quite scarce. As a Zonophone collector, I'm particularly fond of the one that says "Zonophone Needles". It is smaller in size than the other two.

Re: Early Disc Phonograph Needle Boxes!
This is a handy little box apparently made by Music Master. The right drawer holds new needles, the left used ones which can be inserted through the hole on top. The round cut-out area on the top right is handy for holding a few needles for easy access. The dimple in the center makes it easier to tilt a needle upward to pick it up. I've seen them in oak and mahogany.

AFAIK, these were made for open horn machines and early cabinet models that came without needle cups or some sort of needle tin holder/clip.
Brunswick and Silvertone all had needle cups I think, although I suppose Sears may have made Harvard needle boxes but I don't recall ever seeing such a box.
