14" Brass horn originality ??

Post by fmblizz »

I picked up a small brass horn recently and although it was advertised as being 100 yrs old I have some doubts mainly do to the condition and the fact that there is no seam on the main body.. Hoping that some of the experts out there could advise or give opinions as I have never owned a small all brass horn, only the common BB type .

Bell size is 7 inch and the total length is 13 ¾ inch. The nipple is part of the main horn and not a soldered in piece as I've seen with many reproductions. The finish was extremely tarnished with some dark areas so I elected to buff it out and polish it. It definitely had age.

I've included a four pictures with my post.

Thanks in advance

In 30 years of collecting I don't ever recall seeing a horn with no seam no matter what the size.

Thanks for the feedback
