Minty Victor Standard Sound Box, (Clark/Johnson)!

Post by Zwebie »

Looks like the original owner of an early Victor Talking Machine, decided to upgrade to a Concert Reproducer, and put this into the Concert box and forgot about it for 120 years! This would have been original equipment on a Victor A, B, or C phonograph in 1901.

Just goes to show that there is still some Minty Original stuff out there.

WOW!, Bob S.

WOW!!! is right.
Interestingly, I found my Consolidated "C" stamped Clark-Johnson inside a ERJ Concert box too with my ERJ type B. The lid just presses the needle screw a touch too much screwed all the way down. Unlike a ERJ Concert, which fits perfectly.

Well congrats getting that one. I will be curious to know if yours is also a touch too high in the Concert box. Please let us know once you get it.

Well the lid closes all the way on the reproducer. Possibly the ERJ Concert Box is a bit shallower than the Victor Concert Box?

Anyway, I dusted it off with a soft brush, and it just shines. The unmarred screws are a gorgeous blue!
I haven't seen a nicer reproducer since the Clark/Johnson that I have on my 1898 Berliner, which also still has lovely blued screws, but I think this one has it beat!
