Brunswick P-11?

Post by gunnarthefeisty »

Does anyone here have one of these early electric phonographs? How's the sound, motor noise, and record wear?

It should sound like this, they have the same components except the P-11 has no radio so the amplifier has the tube used on the radio side to detect the signal from the tone arm. They are really nice sounding machines when you consider when they came into being. The 10 position volume control is much nicer than the 4 position version. The P-11 seems to be much harder to find than the larger machines are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4jp94GASqc

There are a couple of versions of the tone arm, and the one with two tubes on the arm is usually easier to take apart to rebuild. I'm not sure if the P-11 used both styles or not. I have one, but it had the later tone arm on it. They are also VERY loud if you turn them up. I have no idea about record wear, I haven't worn any records out on my machines, and I do play them quite a bit.
