Help With Deciphering

Post by gramophone78 »

I thought I would post this image and ask members what number do you see ? I assume a number based on "No:", However, maybe it's a letter ??
Appreciate any input.

Thank you for your opinions. The overall consensus is a No:1.
Now I am trying to determine if it represents a model number, serial number or ?

Good points. There is some discussion the machine is 1890 or very early 1891. I'm leaning toward it being a model number or maybe an inventory number.

However, there just isn't enough information to know for sure.
