unknown phonograph (no brand labels on outside)

Post by ihastoes31 »

I opened it up and the motor had written on it:

THE GENERAL INDUSTRIES CO.
ELYRIA . OHIO . U.S.A.
MAJESTIC
and then a logo with a capital m and I on top of each other with a capital g around it

Also, on the platters underside there is the patent number 14 823 with "other patents pending" written underneath

Looks like a really nice General Industries portable. They also made the "Baby" and "Gen-Ola" small metal machines in the 1920s that played Little Wonders.

They also made some record changers into the 30s- a "record flinger" design that played a stack from the top down.

You answered your own question - General Industries was the manufacturer, about circa 1930. That nickel plated Art Deco grille piece is really cool!
