Another interesting advertisement from the pages of The Talking Machine World.

Tell us about your 8-12 Victrola spring or electric, type of wood and finish.

Tell us about your 10-70 Electrola. Is it operating?

Tell us about your 12-15 Electrola.

Please post some photos!

I’ll bite. My 8-12 is American Walnut and has gold plated hardware and original felt and grill cloth, (and finish). I was lucky in that I bought it with an original, Brass reproducer, (same as the early Credenza reproducer, I assume that someone changed it out). It is a very tasteful design and very nice for playing electronically recorded records. It’s more compact than a Credenza, (and in my opinion anyway, better looking), but it can still fill a room with nicely reproduced sound. I think that it looks great for 94 years old.

This topic should probably be moved to machines.

Years ago, I had an 8-12 that was a mercy rescue. Gave it to a family friend back around 2005.

My 8-12, S/N 5211, in walnut. It was the first Orthophonic machine I got and still one of my favorites. There is a bit of damage to the veneer on the top and I had to replace the tonearm mount but in good shape otherwise.

I looked for an 8-12 for quite a long time before this one came up on Craigslist. I had to find a replacement for the cracked reproducer, but that's all it needed. I play orthophonic records every day and the four spring motor works great.
