I spotted this video today of a PHONODIFF Gramophone -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPVxAEO-udM
It's something I've never heard of or seen before.
There are a few other examples on YouTube -- https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... Gramophone ...
...and from what I can tell, it sounds pretty good!
The tonearm/speaker technology looks like a direct ripoff of the Pathé Actuelle.
I wonder if there's a connection...

Re: PHONODIFF Gramophone...mystery
Possibly French although I know of no connection with Pathé.
The needle holder is connected to a rod passing through the arm to connect to a wire stay. This is fixed to a diaphragm behind the cloth in the lid, and rotating the movable part of the arm alters the volume.

It is a French brand, like Roger said it has a similar mechanism to the Lumière. The machine is scarce but not rare, once in a while one shows up on French eBay.
