Any machinists out there?

Post by colmike1 »

Hi guys. I have been searching for a replacement needle bar for my Talk-O-Phone to no avail. Are there any machinists out there willing to fill, drill and tap the needle bar for me so I can install a new thumbscrew? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

It looks like someone already tried to repair the stylus and made it worse. The best solution may be to bore it straight through and plug the hole, blend the ends and re-machine the holes.

That is why I am searching for a machinist. I can fix most things, but I do not have the tools or the talent to attempt this one!

Are you able to remove the stylus?

The whole reproducer is pretty rough. If the stylus bar can be safely removed from the reproducer it will fit my mill once I make a fixture to hold it safely. Yes, plugging the oversized hole and re-drilling and tapping should fix things. The usual risks apply.

It is curious that Talk-O-Phone continued to list the Bradley patent even though this version does not share any of the patent’s features. Marketing!

That is very interesting about the patent. I was able to get the needle bar removed from the reproducer. It's in better shape than I was expecting :-). Well it is a part I will clean up the body of the reproducer. Please email or PM me to arrange the details. Thank you for your help.
