Okay, well I bought some more records, not for the recording, but for the label. Which seems to be a pretty common thing, for some collectors.

The last one, was Recorded in the studios of Henry O. Berman Co. Baltimore Maryland. Gipsy Love Gipsy Princess. It's a 78, but with micro grooves, similar, to a 33.

Found a nut to use, to play the STANDARD Record, Shane. Thank You, for the suggestion.

I never thought of finding a nut to go around the spindle. Up 'til now I just centered my Standard records as best I could and played them. Isn't it ironic that a record with the name "Standard" is anything but?

Well, the one I have is not too bad, it's not excelent, but it sounds okay. Actually, it's on of the few records I own, where, I can open the doors on, my Victrola. Without it being too loud, as opposed to some of the latter records. Which are loud, and I keep the doors shut. Of course my Columbia Phonograph Record, which is older, is not loud either, and suffers from some surface noise. It may be do to age, or the material, or how often it was played. They do however, give good examples of how recording changed since the early 1900's. By the teen's and twenties, the sound was improved even more. I am going to hold onto both, since they are the oldest records in my collection.

Those Standard label records (and in addition, those larger-hole items with brands like United or Diamond or Harmony or Aretino) are actually old Columbia records, usually with the names of the artistes suppressed, but otherwise with the same catalogue numbers as the Columbia products.

Yea, I read about that in the record guide I picked up.
