Okay, here is a good one. I bought a Standard disc record, but obviously have no way to play it, since I do not have a Standard talking machine. Basicly, I bought it because of the label. I was courious, could this record be played on my Victrola? Or is this just a pipe dream?

Paul,

"Standard" records are lateral and may be played on your Victrola. However, you will need an adapter for the large spindle hole. I got mine from Darrell Lehman. If you're interested in buying one, I can find out if he still has them.

I just manually center the disk on the turntable of my victrola. Works just fine.

If you really like to play them alot, one of the phono supply places used to sell a steel spindle cover that fit over the spindle so you could play standards. I almost never play the few that I have. I also have not standard machine. I do however have that cover and would sell to you for $10 or so if I knew where to find it.... no chance of that any time soon though.

Well, this is the frist one I ever bought, so, I'll have to see how I like it. Someone else suggested I use a nut or a washer, to play the record.

Found a nut, and was able to play the record. Not too bad.
