Hello Patrick,

The machine seems mainly correct except for the horn. The horn is old but belongs to a Swiss/German machine not HMV. It should have a morning glory (panelled) horn or maybe wood. The back bracket, tonearm and horn elbow appear correct which is good. The soundbox (reproducer) and winding handle have been replaced but not difficult to put right. The turntable felt should be green.

I don’t have the book ‘His Masters Gramophone’ to hand so I can’t say the exact model but I suspect circa 1915-20. Any labels on the underside? They may give the model number.

Jamie

Isn't this another Model No 2 with a non-standard horn, handle and soundbox?

Something like a model 2 or Model B (H.B.O.). Who’s got the book?

Thanks for the answers 👍
I found this hand written number inside
But also a stamp number (forgot taking a picture of the stamp) I'll do it later 👍😁
I tried figure out what the right soundbox was could it be model number for?
I was looking for the right winding handle as well does anybody have a picture of the right handle? 😊

From what I can gather, it is a model 5 (or a 22 which is the same model renumbered), page 35, but in the photo of the book the speed control is in the front right, not in the back like the one above, which also seems to be missing the brake.

I would imagine it would have originally had an 'exhibition' soundbox....

Most likely an Exhibition. Either marked ‘Gramophone Co. (made in USA)’ or ‘His Master’s Voice (made in England)’. The transition between USA made and English made Exhibitions used in Britain occurs around 1918 I believe.
