Victor Automatic 10-50 Lift Pads

Post by MarkELynch »

Preparing a few more new lift pads last night for the 10-50 Potmetal Elimination Kits we designed to help the collecting community.

The Lift Pads are a perfect fit and are made from aluminum with a baked-on black semi-gloss powder coat finish and stainless steel lift pin.

We imported the 100% wool felt from Holland after an extensive worldwide search for the right material. Victor used all-wool felts not the wool blends offered by others. The color is a fairly close match to the original.
The felts are laser cut for an exact and consistent fit.

For those not familiar with this part it is one of five key components in the Victor Automatic 10-50 and is responsible for removing and replacing the record on the turntable. Now, ninety-seven years later, the originals potmetal parts are always bad and need replacement The potmetal material swells and cracks from internal forces, a feature not know at the time they were cast. Potmetal continues to expand and cannot be arrested. I have some changer parts that looked pretty good 25 years ago that are now horribly swollen.

Our Potmetal Elimination kits can make your 10-50, 10-70, 9-55 and 10-51 work like new again.

A few photos.

An original swollen lift pad and the replacement for comparison. This original is so bad that the top surface is no longer convex!

Hi-

I am not very familiar with how to use this forum- your post about the lift pad is the first I have located with parts for a 10-50. I am especially interested in your parts because you mention that pot metal is not used - I see no reason to go back with inferior parts even if pot metal was the original material.

I just bought a 10-50 yesterday after looking for many years. Overall, it is in pretty good shape. I have not had a chance to do a thorough assessment, but I know that quite a few of the pot metal parts are damaged or missing. Among those missing is the lift pad. One major problem my machine has is that the base/support for the structure that holds the records waiting to be played is broken. I have the 'gold' top part, but the part that attaches it to the base is gone. Do you have the base available?

I am interested to see a list of parts you have available for a 10-50, and price information. Where can I find that?

I am anxious to get my machine operational.

Thanks for your interest. We can supply complete potmetal elimination kits for your 10-50 changer including newly cast turntables. Send an email to VictrolaParts@gmail.com By the term “engineered to fit” we mean that these parts are fully finished and don’t require the tedious hand filing, trial fitting and painting of some of the earlier attempts. They are truly ready to install and match the quality that Victor intended.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Contact us in advance if you want to pick up your parts sets at the upcoming phonograph show in Wayne, NJ on April 21st.
Stop by our table to say hello and watch the changer demonstration.
