FRAAD Talking Machine Company

Post by cweastlick »

I picked up a lidless tabletop phonograph from the Fraad Talking Machine Company. The tag says the model is the Symphony. Serial number is 1978. I can't find much of anything about it. Unfortunately it did not have a tonearm or reproducer so I'm not even sure what I'm looking for.
Thanks!

Here is an ad from the Talking Machine World,1916. It shows a couple of lidless table models made by Fraad.
We would love to see pictures of what you have!

Symphony is the brand, not the model.

The Fraad Talking Machine Co. was established in 1915, by Daniel Fraad, a New York contractor. The company only lasted a few years, before filing for bankruptcy in late 1917. No serial number records survive for most of these smaller brands, a rough estimate is 1915-1917. Maybe with some pictures we could narrow it down a little more?

It is a Style 1. The serial number is 1973. Thanks much for the articles and pictures! Now, if I can find a tonearm and reproducer.

How about posting pics of your machine...
