Both good guesses, either Mutt or Andy. Thanks for the input, I'll leave a printed page of this pic in the back of the machine when I put it back together.

Found several 'like new' 1923 pennies in the back of my VV-300 (Also manufactured in 1923). Pretty cool!!

I recently started on a VV-VI. Pulling the upper horn mount to the tonearm I found a flower child cut-out in the neck of the cast iron horn. Looks like 1960's hippy thingy, or "laugh-in" tv series piece. Who knows?

I found a 1950 $10.00 bill stuffed in a record album inside an XVI. The only item of value I've ever encountered.

Re: Odd items found inside phonographs
I just the other day bought a HMV 102 from ebay, loose inside the horn and inside the cabinet were about 4-500 used rusty needles, I think the horn must have been the previous owners used needle pot, took ages to get them all out!
And the 511 I recently restored had a big bundle of cloth covered electrical cable inside the cabinet placed between the horn, I have no idea why

I have worked on 40 or 50 Edison's and Victrola's and found only old needles and a note that said I need to contact someone about my car warrantee which was expiring.. I do hate cleaning up the ones that have been infested. Tom

This past summer, I was driving by a lawn sale and a Brunswick Cortez caught my eye. After performing an acrobatic U-turn in traffic, I found a few records within its record drawers as well as the following envelope with these contents. I alerted the seller who, fortunately for me, couldn't have cared less.

Re: Odd items found inside phonographs
Probably not unusual, but I was happy to find all of the original literature, ( owner manual, record catalog, Victor catalog, how to get the most from your Victrola pamphlet including the envelope and even the original box that the literature came in. There was also a full set of original albums in like new condition. The missing crank was in there too. There were also music trade magazines in the compartment. The lock was frozen and I had to pick it. Judging from the magazines, I am guessing that the lock became inoperable more than 70 years ago. All of the literature is shown in the attached photograph. It was the door to the left that had the stubborn lock.

Beautiful machine, django! Does the stubborn lock now work with the key?
