Cleaning-up a 1925 VV-50, in it, a needle spill, a small chunk of a red Vocalion, a 1926-D penny, and a Flapper.

Late to the party, as usual, but...to my eye that looks like one of those non-slip stick-ons for bathtubs.

Original packing bits found in a Victor IV.
Its motor shipping block and info card.
Also, a mystery block is 3.5" square with the 1" hole does not seem to fit with any motor part. It's not for the winding stem.

Perhaps it went over the turntable spindle to keep the turntable in place? Or maybe to prevent impact on the spindle if the turntable is packaged above it or elsewhere.Roaring20s wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 9:53 pm Original packing bits found in a Victor IV.

Very interesting. I thought woodworm was fairly rare in the states?

I did give the turntable a thought. They might have tied it in place?jamiegramo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 12, 2023 12:14 pm Perhaps it went over the turntable spindle to keep the turntable in place? Or maybe to prevent impact on the spindle if the turntable is packaged above it or elsewhere.

I was also surprised about the holes in that.
It was nice to see that the original owner took the label content to heart and saved it.
Thanks for your input.

Re: Odd items found inside phonographs
I bought this Victor IV yesterday. Yes, I know the handles don't belong on it. I found this old Milwaukee dog license tag inside from 1913. I will have this available at the Midwest Show.

I purchased a Victrola VV-300 Humpback and behind the record albums there were two 1923 pennies, which matched the date of the production decal inside the door. Kind of cool!!

Re: Odd items found inside phonographs
In my Supertone upright, I found a random newspaper from 1925 inside. I took it out, put it in a frame, and hung it on the wall.
