In Perry Mason Episode #188: The Case of the Bigamous Spouse, a VV-IX or XI (table-top model) appears in the funeral parlor scene, "playing" a recording of what sounds like a Bach chorale prelude (suitably quiet and soothing, although no ceremony is in progress). At one point, an actor reaches into the case and adjusts the volume (!) by appearing to turn the speed control knob!

That is a beautiful picture.

Thanks

I second that notion. It's a beautiful photo. We've lost something with "HD" digital photography for sure. YMMV...

An EMG is visible in several scenes in the 1938 movie Pygmalion starring Leslie Howard. It's My Fair Lady minus the singing. Unfortunately, the EMG is like a perfect child -- seen but not heard.

Yesternight we were watching Sydney Pollack's This Property Is Condemned, with Robert Redford and Natalie Wood.
There are several scenes featuring two phonographs. First, the scenes in Alva's parents' home in Dobson, where there is a victrola standing against a wall in the Parlor. Later, the scenes in Owen's house in New Orleans, where there's a tabletop possibly Columbia, seems like a viva tonal model...

Today's episode of Perry Mason broadcast on METV out of Wilmington, Delaware, had an Auxetophone, no less, in a commercial plug for the station! I'm assuming that this plug was recorded in the Eldridge Johnson Museum, the only place likely to have such a beast on hand. (Episode #4, The Case of the Drowning Duck, b'cast 6/3/21). The Auxetophone wasn't playing, unfortunately, but was seen merely as a prop on the set.

From some show from the 90s or 00s called “The Pretender” I just caught it while flipping channels. I applaud them for using REAL Victor/HMV machine but of course they put the tonearm on the WRONG SIDE! 😬

I can't remember which episode of The Avengers I was watching this afternoon - but here is the gramophone.

I wonder which model it is ?

Is there a bit missing ?

It was a very good episode though -it seems like they were 'doing a parody' of the Maltese Falcon. Great acting etc.

There is more than one bit missing. The tonearm and soundbox for a start.
