Author of A Streak of Luck (1979). Here's his LA Times obit:

I'm sorry to hear that. A Streak of Luck was an excellent book.

I too am sorry to learn of Conot's passing. I received A Streak of Luck for my birthday in 1979, and stayed up all that night reading it. Called in sick that morning so I could finish it. I've re-read it many times since - - it's a great book.

It was one of the first biographies to paint him as something more (and less) than the grandfatherly genius. I liked it, but it got some really harsh reviews.
