For Sale: New ‘duck foot’ phonograph cabinet crane

Post by kirtley2012 »

This is one of the new cabinet cranes I have been making, I started making these due to the scarcity of original and repro horn cranes, especially in the UK, rather than make a strict repro, I designed something new, and the result is the crane you see here.

Sand cast aluminium foot, otherwise, all Steel
Adjustable for most sizes of horn
Includes a length of chain
Can be fitted to Edison phonographs with no modification at all.
Pictured below with a 30” brass horn (not included of course)

£80 + postage

Postage will be £8.70 In the UK, I will send elsewhere, just message me your location and I can get a quote

Any questions feel free to ask

Pretty nice crane! Is this a replica of an historic design or is this your own artistry?

It seems to work well and looks good...

I'm still wondering about your avatar and "Grape" St. (Grope St. renamed), where is it located? There seems to be a long history of Grape Streets in the UK...

Thanks!

Grape street is in London, and number 11 Grape street was the long time home to EMG Handmade Gramophones, I made a pilgrimage to go and see it on my last visit to London when that photo was taken, I’ve also got one outside of Soho Square, which was where Expert gramophones were based for a while

I really like it. I happen to be getting an old 1905-ish Home B running & it will need a horn crane. If I cannot find something here--seems to be more likely with the passing of Mr. Sitko--I will have to order one of yours.

I can ship one to you with no trouble, you can message me your address and I can get you a shipping quote if you like?

Sounds nice; I'll send you a PM nearer then. Thanks, and good luck selling many of these--it's nice to see new designs.

Anyone fancy a trade? I need a good Edison model C reproducer, anyone wanting a crane I will do a straight swap, fine if it needs a re-build, so long as the stylus is good
