Paul Whiteman's 50th Anniversary Record

Post by JHolmesesq »

I took this from an LP I bought today. In this track, Whiteman recalls how the Rhythm Boys were formed, using a humorous excerpt from a radio show when the Rhythm Boys were reunited.

It's terriffic fun, there's one liners galore (usually about Paul's size) - "Who's that trio over there then? That's no trio, that's Mr Whiteman" and they finish up by singing Mississippi Mud. A real classic, I'm so glad I bought it now!

I'm bumping this one with a few more tracks I ripped off it. The first one is of particular interest - Jimmy Dorsey's LAST recording, made with the Paul Whiteman. Such amazingly soulful playing.

The second is an upbeat duo between Jack Teagarden and Johnny Mercer singing "Jeeper's Creepers".
