In Spain, the 1962 hmv catalogue still included a bunch of 78rpm issues. I don't know which was the last catalogue including 78s... I have to investigate also later Columbia catalogues.

It's a regular issue from India, where they carried on until 1967 I believe.

1960 here in Britain, apart from some non-public issues of library/programme music.

Fascinating, there must be some rarities!

They were mostly singles that were in fashion, produced also on 78, and the fascinating thing is that it includes some old recordings from the 1930s that were still very popular... Pressed in the finest 1962 Spanish shellac compound!

The Inner Light / Hey Jude was on Indian 78 in 1968.

Yes I believe so - but when I last read up on these, I think that's one of the last few where nobody has ever actually seen a copy. How amazing would that be!

Around 3:45 here Parlogram Auctions says that EMI India ended 78 production in October, 1970. These people at Parlogram are knowledgable, I would trust them.

(Double-click the video above or click this link to go to the video on YouTube.)

Also, the elusive 1968 Beatles 78 I was talking about above wasn't The Inner Light / Hey Jude , it was Lady Madonna / The Inner Light. I misremembered.

Though there is also supposedly an Indian 78 of Revolution / Hey Jude, also from 1968. The Beatles released this latter later in the year than the above.

Another fascinating topic. A couple of things I think of when I heard this. It’s amazing to think all the Beatles were in their early 20’s to be this brilliant and prolific. Most 20 year olds (myself included) don’t know their bunghole from a bump in the ground. Also I’ve seen tons of record sides demonstrated on youtube that remain standing. Why can some get away with it while others cannot ?

If you'd like a list of Indian Beatles 78's with labels scans and Beatles 78's from other lands, I needn't hold your hand... :)

it's been widely debated whether that actually exists or not

If you do decide to sell this, will it be via eBay, a record auction, or by some other Avenue?
Then again, I know many unusual items change hands among friends without ever being put on the open market, so you may already know who the next custodian will be.
