Correct Spelling of Artist's Name?

Post by pallophotophone »

Hi,
Some years ago on a shortwave radio broadcast from Radio Hilversum, Holland - "Happy Station"- I heard a wonderful Sunday night program that played all sorts of Dutch music. Band organs etc.
One night the host played a 78 RPM disc of the song "Abba Dabba Honeymoon" from the "Ladislandt Collection" Another spelling conundrum.
It wasn't sung in English. It had a female trio or duo accompaniment Sung in Dutch ? It's electrically recorded with a small orchestra. The announcer gave the performers name, but didn't spell it out or give any other info.

He pronounced it Sig Olund or Oleund or ?. I've tried to determine this performers real name for years on the internet using whatever reasonable spellings I could conjure up. Nothing.
Does anyone know how to spell his name and with whom did he record ? He has a very pleasant voice - Baritone ? I'd like to hear more of him.

Anyone know who it is?

Hi,

A quick internet search for cover versions of "Aba Daba Honeymoon" found this Dutch version:-
Aba Daba (hoor die baby) by Will Ferdy met Lou Logist en zijn orkest

https://secondhandsongs.com/performance/345547/versions

Could this be what you are after?

or possibly this one if it was in Swedish:-
Aba Daba Stig Ohlin, Sam Samsons orkester

Alll listed versions here:-

I don't think you will find many other recordings by Stig Ohlin. He was better known as an actor and director:-

That's OK with me, He's not that great a singer, at least in my opinion. But I do like his recording of that tune in particular. It's the only recording of his that I've ever heard.
No wonder I never found it- the radio announcer didn't state he was singing in Swedish. And I presumed he was singing in Dutch. And that was one spelling I didn't think of.

Best !! And Thanks Again !
