None of us were born knowing a thing about any of this stuff. You're learning, so take comfort in that.

You have two options, the safe one and the dangerous one:
Safe option: try to look for Edison pressings of the recording
Dangerous option: sand the mandrel (this is a real practice but it is horrible for your machine)

this is my one and only phonograph and I'm guarding it with my life :lol: . but I found out the cylinder was actually a very good condition 4 min (US everlasting?). anyways i can play it and it plays great :D

Happy to hear that! Sometimes celluloid can be tricky to get on the mandrel.
